Material Grades: SS 304 vs SS 316

Both SS 304 and SS 316 are austenitic stainless steels, widely used for corrosion resistance and durability.

SS 304 (A2-50 / A2-70 grade)

• Chemical makeup: ~18–20% chromium, ~8–10.5% nickel.

• Properties: Good general corrosion resistance and strength, widely used in many mechanical and industrial applications.

SS 316 (A4-80 grade and similar)

💡 Key difference: SS 316 has better resistance to corrosive, chloride-containing environments (like seaside or chemical exposure) than SS 304, but 304 remains very effective and more cost-efficient for general use.

How SS Spring Washers Work

When a bolt or nut is tightened over a spring washer:
✔ The washer’s “spring” shape compresses slightly.
✔ This compression generates axial force (tension).
✔ The tension helps counteract vibration or loosening of the fastener.
✔ The split edges bite slightly into the nut/bolt and surface, increasing friction.

 An Internal Tooth Washer is a type of lock washer designed with serrations (teeth) on the inner diameter.
